Love the L-rd with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your strength (resources); And love your neighbor as yourself. See Matthew 22:37-40
I have some Children's Torah pages for this portion. How can I upload them for our kids to use this week?
ReplyDeleteLook at Ex. 10:10. Pharaoh accuses Moses of having "evil on his mind." At this point during the plagues, Pharaoh understand that he has sinned (9:27). He acknowledges the L-rd (10:10 part a). Now he accuses Moses of planning something evil. How often are we confused by what G-d does through His people. We have difficulty decifering from each other whether or not a person is actually doing what it is that G-d is asking, or if they have some self-motivation for acting on behalf of G-d. Now, there is a clear difference between today and Moses' day: Moses clearly has been proclaiming that G-d was performing these plagues. And seven times before, he has been accurate. I'm not sure I've seen evidence of someone today proclaiming the activities of
ReplyDeleteG-d with this type of accuracy. Yet, when we do see what people do, when we see people doing acts of kindness, when we see others loving G-d with their whole heart, we have something to measure by. In James 2:18, James writes, "James 2:18 But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works. 'Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works..." Moses demonostrated his faith by actions. So, we need to be careful by what we call evil. G-d is at work in more lives than just our own.
Another point that can be made form this is that we also need to understand that even when we are doing what G-d has asked of us, someone is going to call what we are doing evil. Yeshua said this would occur: Matthew 5:11 "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account." So, as a thought for this week, let's observe around us the actions, the activities, or the works of others. Let's engage in what is good, and for those around who are crying out about all of the evil around them, let's not listen so much to that, and perhaps engage in the things that are required in faith and in doing good works.
